(Dead Films, 1985) realistic severed head of soldier Torrez (Taso Stavrakis) from, George Romero’s Day of the Dead. Constructed of a fiberglass underskull, foam latex skin accurately hand-painted in skin tones, hand-punched hair, resin teeth and tongue. In this nightmarish scene, a zombie tears the soldier’s head off and the attached puppeteering cables actuated movement of the jaw while the blood lines allowed spurting of the studio blood. The craftsmanship is incredible. Includes a LOA from the head’s creator, Tom Savini.
Listed for sale for $4000 but NOT SOLD, auction date was 2011 May 15.
