Russ Streiner is a producer, actor, and long-standing advocate for independent filmmaking, best known for his work on George A. Romero’s horror classic Night of the Living Dead (1968). Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Russ played the memorable role of Johnny, whose chilling line “They’re coming to get you, Barbra!” became one of horror’s most iconic moments.

In addition to acting, Russ co-founded the film’s production company Image Ten, and worked closely with Romero at The Latent Image, a Pittsburgh-based company that produced commercials and industrial films. He later helped launch New American Films, continuing his involvement in creative media and film production.

Russ was also a key figure in the Pittsburgh Film Office, serving on the board and helping to promote Pittsburgh as a thriving hub for film and television production. His ongoing support for local filmmaking has had a lasting impact on the region’s creative community.

In 1990, Russ returned to the Night of the Living Dead universe in Tom Savini’s remake, this time portraying the Sheriff, delivering the wry line, “Yeah, they’re dead. They’re all messed up,” in homage to the original film.

Today, Russ remains active in preserving the legacy of Night of the Living Dead through fan events, interviews, and his participation in the official NIGHTcast livestream series.
