Vernon Wells Joins Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light as Executive Producer and Cast Member

Vernon Wells, best known for genre work spanning The Road Warrior, Commando and Weird Science, has joined the next installment of the Witchcraft franchise. He is attached both as an executive producer and as a member of the film’s cast.

Cast and creative team

Director Carissa Pierson is leading the production. The ensemble already includes several established genre performers and Hollywood veterans, with roles announced for:

  • Eric Roberts — named as Professor Churchill
  • Lisa Wilcox — named as Detective Garner
  • Sandy Johnson
  • Kato Kaelin
  • Andrew Pierson
  • Kristina Lafser

The casting brings together long-running genre performers alongside newer faces as the franchise moves into what the production describes as a darker, more atmospheric chapter.

Premise and production plans

The story centers on a paranormal investigation team that uncovers the secrets of The Children of the Hollow and an ancient manuscript referred to as The Lanterne of Light. Production is scheduled to begin principal photography in October 2026 in North Carolina, and a 2027 release is planned.

Carissa Pierson has characterized Wells’ participation as an important addition to the production, citing his experience in genre cinema as a reason for his dual role on the project.

Wells’ genre résumé cited by the production includes his performances in The Road Warrior, Commando, Weird Science and Innerspace, and a later television role as Ransik on Power Rangers Time Force. Eric Roberts is noted among the cast for an extensive career that includes Runaway Train and other high-profile credits.
